Research about the Show

The 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee is found by Rebecca Feldman and the lyrics and music is composed by William Finn. It is a long one-act musical comedy. The show is about a fictional spelling bee. There are 9 main characters in the show and with 3 to 4 audience members to help the show keep going on. The main characters are Rona Lisa Peretti, Douglas Panch, Mitch Mahoney, Olive Ostrovsky, William Barfée, Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, Marcy Park, Leaf Coneybear, Chip Tolentino. In the first part of the show the audience members will be called to attend the show and they will join the spelling and dancing in the show. They will be given both hard and easy words to let the show going on, such as fandango and cow; these word will let the speller sing several songs such as “Pandemonium”. When the spellers or audience members spell something wrong, the cheer leaders will come up and sing the Goodbye song and let them get out of the stage. During the songs there are going to be dancer dancing around; the speller will also dance and sing when is their chance to spell, such as “I am not that smart” and “I speak six language”. Finally in the end of the show, after winner of the spelling bee comes out, speller will come out one by one and give information about the future of their characters. All the actor including stage crew will come up to the stage wave, bow and dance to the audience. It is a big chaos. These are a short summary of what is going to happening in the show base on the practice I see as a stage crew. It is a really fun and interesting show which also have a strong interactivity with audience. It also get several rewards such as “Drama Desk Reward” and “Theatre World Reward” It is a really good show and suggest everybody come and enjoy it!

Which one is more important?

When I heard the news of canceling the field trips in order to lower the tuition fee, the first feeling in my mind was astonishment. I couldn't believe how ridiculous school was and felt upset about my future in this school. Did school know that field trip could not only help students on their study but also assist their daily life? Did they know which one is more important saving money or the field trip?

First, field trips can help students to explore new ideas, new experience and improving themselves. They are especially important to the students such as art major. For example, if art students want to improve themselves, studying and drawing by themselves at school don't work at all. They need inspirations and new ideas. However, a useful way to help them is the field trip which has been cancelled by school; through the field trip they can go to the art museum to find inspirations and attend the speech by the famous artist. In addition, for the boarding students like me the field trip become the only way to connect with the outside world and I need the ideas and inspirations come from the outside world to keep up with the whole world.As we all know that study is not only about the words in the books, but also is about the society and the wide in experience.

Second, field trips augment the fun of students' daily life, and it is an access for boarding students to buy their daily necessities. People come to America to wide their knowledge and experience. Study in the school all the time is not what they want. For the international boarding students like me, field trips become the only channel for them to keep in touch with outside and gain new experience. Even important is that they need field trips to get what they need in their daily life. For example, if someone need to buy coat for winter, the quickest way for them is go with the field trip. As you can see, compare to saving money field trip is absolutely more necessary and more important for students' daily life.

To sum up, I think we can see that field trip help students on both their study and daily life. It is especially important to the boarding students and much more important than saving money for the tuition fee. Don't you think school should spend even more money on the field trip?

Gregory,the Cat


Gregory a gray Persian cat which called as my best cat. He has pride and grace; He shows his elegant from the action of slowly lifts and lowers each paw; graceful danced steps make him a perfect dancer. His pride, however,will never be shown in his appearance. For most of the time, His life is about stay indoor watching television and getting fat. He enjoys watching TV commercials, such as Meow Mix and 9 Lives. The next step for him after watching TV is cat food commercials, normal cat foot never fits his flavor; The most expensive and fancy one is what he is seeking for. Gregory keeps the same interests on the visitors as his interests on food. His friendship only gives to people who pleased him. He may snuggle up against your ankle, begging to be petted, or he may reveal his anger and bites you. Gregory’s action express his feeling of jealous of my friends to humiliate me as many cats experts think, but not to establish his territory. After my guests’ leaving I look at the adorably old fleabag snoozing and smiling to himself in front of the TV, and forgiving him for the obnoxious is my only choice, because of how lovely he is.

TTTwwwiiisssttt Look! a good twist story! FFF

Look! a good twist story!

First, I want to explain that everyone have a very good twist story, but people have different favor. Therefore, I choose three twist stories which are most interesting to me. Of course mine has been eliminate at first, because that will be unfair to judge myself(HA HA ! I won’t tell you mine is the Best!)

The first one which attracts my interests is Sophia’s story. The title first appear appear to my eyes and give me a big question mark--Why she feature her father as biological? After following her words and description about how her father care about her, I even can feel it from the worlds her father tell her; such as “you naughty girl!”. It shows the care and love from her father. Suddenly, the twist come with out any warning; It comes too fast and I even don’t have time to prepare for it. It drag me out from the Korea romantics she create and throw me a feeling as same as her pictures which is on the bottom of her blog post. When I finish reading the story, I have the same feeling as she has and the only world I can give is “biological father” which fits her main ideal well.

The second one is Amanda’s story. She is really good at creating the environment and atmosphere of the story. Also the description on the reaction of people and her feeling at that time is really good. While I am reading the story, it seems to bring me to the same situation the girl in the story has. Also the way she put “I was frozen” as a separate paragraph is really novelty to me. It is like a stop sign in a song which gives you time to think about the story and keep on track on it. In addition, her ending is really unaffected; not like Sophia’s which changed suddenly, it change quietly and take times to understand and notice.

Third one is zen’s twit story about the wind. After he changed the sentence which said “wind bring us warmth in the winter” I feel much more comfortable reading it and choose it as the third twist story I like. One things really different his story is the using of “She” as a starting of each sentence; If only three or five sentence start with she, it will make feel that it repeats too much and need to be changed. However, if the whole story start with she, instead of feeling of repeat, I feel parallelism and poetic. In addition, I like his way of analogy the wind as his friend which gives the wind a personality.

As you can see, These are the story I like best among all the twist story except mine. They both have different twisting and because of that unique feeling they attract me successfully!
