About Grammar

Grammar is a really big problem which confused me for years, I think there are two reasons for why I am keep making mistakes on grammar. First, when you read though the sentence you write it always sound write. Although you may forgot to add some words, you will add it in your mind when you read though it. Usually I make these kind of problems on the tense of words, because it is easy for me to forgot which of the tense am I using before the sentence I write. Also when I recheck the paragraph, it seems to be right in their own. For example, “ I went to the SS yesterday. I buy lots of snacks for today’s party.”If you check sentence by sentence, they all seem right. I think I need to check the paragraph as a entirety and pay attention on the words that represent the time in that sentence in order to fix this problem.

 Second, I make mistakes on forming a complex sentence. I always have lots of things to talk about in one sentence, because I think there are connections between them, so it is facilitate to make mistakes on forming a really long sentence. For example, “ I like to eat food which is sweat, because they are delicious and I like the taste of sweat things, so that’s why I like to eat cake.” In this sentence so and because should not exist at the same time and I can use “;”to instead of coma to make a connection for sentences. Also using less complex sentence can be helpful to me.

Finally, I make mistakes on making a sentence fragment. For example, “Also using less complex sentence can be helpful.”That is because when sentence is long, it is really hard for me to find out that this sentence is a fragment. To fix this problem, I need to write down the subject for each of the sentence I write to confirm that they are right.

In my opinion, Grammar is one of the biggest problems when I am writing an essay; Throughout this year, I am going to try as hard as I can to fix this problem. I am going to write my essay in word document and write down the mistake I make after it correct for me. Also I will write down the comments teacher gives me from my essay and put the on the front of my bed to remind myself.

To sum up, grammar is my biggest weakness and I am going to try my best to fix it throughout this year. It will become my biggest advantage instead of weakness !
